\nOften built from dust, many modern cities saw the light of day in post-independence Africa. However, many of them remain a blind spot in urban history and theory. Featuring previously unpublished archival documents and striking period photographs, and contemporary images, this exhibition tells the story of some of these modern Afropoli. Structured as a forum for the work of scholars and artists, it explores how African urbanism became a critical act of nation-building and worldmaking.<\/p>\n
