Dezember 2018, 17:00 Uhr |\u00a0ETH Z\u00fcrich\u00a0H\u00f6nggerberg,\u00a0HIL E6.<br \/>\nVortrag von Lori Brown, Professor f\u00fcr Architektur, Syracuse University (NY).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flora-ruchat-roncati-snf.ch\/blog\/closing-event-of-snf-project-lecture-by-lori-brown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lori Brown\u2019s lecture, \u00abBetween the Academy + Activism,\u00bb<\/a> will discuss her research and the opportunities it has unexpectedly created in real-world engagement and activism, bringing architecture out into broader current political and cultural spatial contestations.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>She will begin by providing a brief theoretical framework of her creative research practice and pedagogical approaches locating her work within the broader feminist scholarship. She will then discuss several projects and the ways they have moved between research and activism.<\/p>\n<p>Lori Brown\u2019s research focuses on relationships between architecture and social justice with particular emphasis on gender and its impact upon spatial relationships. Her two books include Feminist Practices: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Women in Architecture and Contested Spaces: Abortion Clinics, Women\u2019s Shelters and Hospitals. Her two current book projects include Birthing Centers, Borders and Bodies and co-editing the Bloomsbury Global Encyclopedia of Women in Architecture with Dr. Karen Burns. She is co-founder and director of ArchiteXX, www.architexx.org, a women and architecture group bridging the academy and practice in New York City.
